Welcome to the Lochaber Fisheries and Conservation Trust
For All of Us
“The Lochaber Fisheries Trust is a charity dedicated to improving and raising awareness of the fish populations and freshwater habitats of Lochaber.”
We have the power to impact our future, and we’re doing something about it
Welcome to the Lochaber Fisheries and Conservation Trust. We work with river owners, managers, anglers, government agencies and others to ensure that the region’s freshwaters are protected and managed sustainably. Our aim is to preserve and restore the region’s aquatic environments and ensure that our fish populations persist for future generations. We are dedicated to delivering independent scientific research and monitoring wild fish stocks, their associated freshwater and marine habitats, together with a wide range of other species. The results of this work are valuable to policy makers, land and river managers and local communities. Our work can provide unbiased data and inform decisions on conservation management and restoration projects that protect these important aquatic habitats.

Fishing in Lochaber
There are thirteen major river catchments and numerous smaller rivers and burns within Lochaber. They vary greatly in their size, morphology, catchment type and geology. This in turn leads to differences in their fish populations and fisheries. If you are interested in fishing we have a separate website with all the information about local fisheries:
